Real dancing to contemporary music. I love this studio because boys have a strong presence and it is SO HARD to find anything for boys to do together that is not sports based. This is art with attitude where grown ups and teens dance too, so the kids have some wonderful, supportive people to look up to. You may think the area is dicey but it's just an old building. Plus, I'd rather my little boy go here and tear up the floor (figuratively) than feel weird and uncomfortable in a fancy building trying to find a beat in some three hundred year old classical piece (not to dis the classics). Fun, no pressure, and supportive. You can bring your kid for a trial class too - no stings. Why not try it?
Can’t say enough good things about this studio and the community it cultivates. My 8 yr old daughter has taken classes with both Cykhiyia and Tyrell and has been dancing with them for over a year. The price is beyond fair, she is progressing in her dance, and having so much fun. The teachers are the best, bringing positivity and discipline in a nurturing atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a hip hop dance community to join.
My daughter takes dance lesson at Hip Hop Soulsation Academy. She absulolutely loves the class and her teacher, as do I. Cykhyia teaches the students hip hop dance as well as guiding them in developing attention to detail, professionalism, and having high standards. The students have a lot of fun and learn a lot. The Academy is a small community of families and we love being a part of it. Highly recommend.
Can't I give them six stars? Both of my daughters have trained at Hip Hop Soulsation Academy. It was the best thing that ever happened in their dancing lives. Cykhyia not only taught them moves they couldn't learn anywhere else, she also brings the kind of structure and discipline that enhances the joy of creativity. Kids need that!!
We love Soul Sation! My step-daughter has been in dance classes since she was 5yrs old. She fell in love with hip hop and wanted to focus on taking her dancing to the next level. We tried numerous schools in the Portland area trying to find a good, positive atmosphere for her to learn and grow in. Soul Sation is more than a dance school. The instructors cultivate the students by providing fun classes in a family atmosphere. When you join the school you become part of the family. The teachers and students are supportive of each other, which allows the students to grow in a positive atmosphere. My daughter has grown in so many ways thanks to Soul Sation. She walks out of class every day feeling happy and confident… and her dance skills have risen to a new level.
